Overview
Mera Peak Climbing is a 19-day high-altitude adventure in the remote Hinku Valley of eastern Nepal. At 6,476 meters (21,247 feet), Mera Peak is Nepal’s highest trekking peak and offers stunning views of five 8,000-meter giants including Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, and Cho Oyu. This expedition combines a scenic flight to Lukla, wilderness trekking, cultural encounters, and a technically moderate summit for fit adventurers.
Outline Itinerary
Welcome to Nepal! Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, meet your Sacred Trails representative and transfer to your hotel. Evening briefing and welcome dinner. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Enjoy a cultural tour of Kathmandu including Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, and Durbar Square. Gear check and final preparation for the expedition. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Early morning flight to Lukla. Begin trek through lush forest and small settlements to Paiya. Trek duration: 5–6 hours. Overnight at a teahouse.
Cross the Kari La Pass and walk through rhododendron and bamboo forests to reach the Sherpa village of Panggom. Overnight at a teahouse.
Continue ascending through forested trails to the scenic ridge of Ramailo Danda with panoramic mountain views. Overnight at a teahouse.
Trek through pristine forest trails with glimpses of rare Himalayan wildlife. Descend to Chhetra Khola beside a glacial stream. Overnight at a teahouse.
Trek to Kothe (3,600m) through Hinku Valley. Continue to Thangnak (4,350m), then to Khare (5,045m), the base for Mera Peak. Acclimatize and prepare for the climb.
Practice using crampons, ice axe, and ropes. Climb to High Camp with views of Everest, Makalu, and Baruntse. Rest and prepare for summit push. Overnight in tent.
Start before dawn to ascend Mera Peak. After enjoying summit views, descend safely to Khare. Summit duration: 8–10 hours round trip. Overnight at a teahouse.
Retrace the trail back to Kothe and onward to Thuli Kharka (4,300m). Enjoy forested paths and scenic ridgelines. Overnight at teahouses.
Cross the Zatrwa La Pass for final panoramic views of the Khumbu. Descend to Lukla. Celebrate the successful expedition. Overnight at a teahouse.
Morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. Free afternoon for rest or shopping. Farewell dinner hosted by Sacred Trails. Overnight in Kathmandu.
