Managed by Sacred Trails, this trek unveils the untouched beauty of the trans-Himalayan landscape, ancient Bon Buddhist culture, and remote highland settlements. From turquoise Phoksundo Lake to high mountain passes over 5,000 meters, the trail offers a rare glimpse into life unchanged for centuries. Ideal for seasoned trekkers looking for raw wilderness, cultural immersion, and fewer crowds.

Outline Itinerary

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, a Sacred Trails representative will receive you and transfer you to your hotel. Trip briefing and welcome dinner. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Take a short flight to Nepalgunj, a vibrant town in western Nepal near the Indian border. Explore the local bazaar. Overnight at a hotel in Nepalgunj.
Fly to Juphal and start your trek through cultivated fields and along the Bheri River to reach Dunai, the district headquarters of Dolpa. Overnight at a teahouse.
Begin trekking through the Shey Phoksundo National Park. Follow riverside trails and forests to Chhepka village. Overnight in a tented camp or basic lodge.
Trek along lush forest paths with glimpses of waterfalls and reach Jharana Hotel, offering a spectacular view of Phoksundo Waterfall. Overnight stay.
Today’s trail leads to the breathtaking Phoksundo Lake, Nepal’s deepest and most beautiful lake. Explore the nearby Ringmo village and monasteries. Overnight by the lake.
Acclimatize and enjoy a full day to explore Phoksundo’s blue waters, Bon monasteries, and Ringmo village. A perfect day for rest and photography.
Follow a remote trail above the lake’s western edge and enter a rugged gorge. Camp at Sallaghari amid pine trees. Overnight in tents.
A challenging day through narrow valleys and steep climbs. Reach Nangdala High Camp, preparing for the pass crossing. Overnight in tents.
Cross the stunning Nangdala Pass with panoramic views of Mustang and Dolpo peaks. Descend to the spiritual heartland of Shey Gompa. Overnight near the monastery.
